Above are the 2016 Presidential polls as of today, Oct 9, 2015. Everywhere you look, there are polls about the 2016 presidential race and where the current candidates stand. Although there is still a year left until the presidential election, it is easy to see which candidates have been lacking in the polls lately as well as who has been noticeably dominating those polls as well. Scott Walker was one of those candidates who seemed to drop in poll ratings before he finally decided to opt out of the race.
Looking back at the poll history over the past couple of months, Scott Walker was doing quite well before his polls dropped dramatically. Some people were calling this dramatic drop Scott Walkers “Summer Plunge”. On September 1st, Walker was shown in the polls with less than 1% support nationally... After his drop out, Walkers ranking is not in the recent polls and his exclusion from these polls show why he is no longer running.
I think that Walker should have really focused on his dramatic decrease in polls and tackled that issue head on. He could have done a better job at figuring out where and why he was lacking in these polls and worked harder to raise his numbers which potentially could have resulted in more success in the 2016 presidential race.
Emily, I definitely agree with your opinion on Scott Walker's attitude towards the polls. Had he made significant changes in his campaign perhaps he would still be in the running.
ReplyDeleteScott Walker definitely dropped in the polls. I remember in the CNN debate Donald Trump said that Scott used to be on top of the polls then fell off the wagon. Do you think his performance in the debates led to his falling poll numbers and eventual drop out?
ReplyDeleteEmily,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job of addressing the problem with how his numbers looked in the polls. I think from there you also did a great job explaining and showing when, where and why his numbers dropped in the polls as well. You finished it nicely with your recommendations of how he could have raised his numbers before he dropped out.

Emily I think you did a great job showing his results in polls and the reasoning behind it. Before, I was unfamiliar about Scott Walker and his roll but your posts gives me a better understanding.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Scott Walker could have possibly continued to "tackle" this issue of being at the bottom of the presidential candidacy food chain, I think he made the smart move by dropping out. Now I know nothing is impossible, but it would be very difficult for him to make a come back. Good blog.
